What does the definition of “Currency” mean to you? This word can mean a lot of things to different people around the world. In fact, one person’s cash may look different than your money and have a different value as well. You can read the definition of the word "currency" by checking your home or office dictionary or just by clicking on the link of an online internet-based dictionary such as Merriam-Webster Dictionary or MSN Encarta Dictionary. To sum up all the definitions: “Currency is usually a portable object that has a value recognized and accepted by a person, group of people, or government entity as a means of exchange for another item of value such as a good or service provided.”

The volume of different types of money traded daily in this world is just amazing! Although, the term "trading currencies" doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing as trading baseball cards, it could to some people. They would be called collectors. Normally, metal coins, paper money, checks or credit cards are most often circulated in a purchasing transaction between individuals, businesses, or governments. Currencies can be traded in small amounts or extremely large amounts all at once. The large transactions usually occur between banks as an electronic funds transfer or EFT. This type of bank transaction occurs as a movement of digital funds with no actual cash being physically relocated.
